Cathy and Terry and their three teenage girls were comfortable enough in their former home, but it lacked the kind of intimacy and style they preferred. “I really enjoy interior design and wanted what I call ‘Minnesota contemporary’ — which to me means a modern interior that’s also cozy enough to survive our long cold winters,” Cathy explained. They approached Highmark to help them refine their vision and develop a snug, downsized floor plan.
Based on their appreciation for both traditional architecture and modern design, Highmark helped them create a striking Frank Lloyd Wright Prairie-style exterior that seamlessly integrates with a contemporary interior. “We really enjoyed the challenge of blending their preferences and styles,” said Jim Moras, Highmark partner.
Set on a lovely wooded 1.5 acre lot, this unique home’s floor plan emphasizes single-level living and features a luxurious main floor master bed/bath. A screened porch off the kitchen and great room opens to a pool and wildlife area. Stunning slate floors and cherry woodwork add interior warmth throughout.
